Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Plan and prepare for rigid haul truck operations
   • Access, interpret and apply conducting rigid haul truck operations documentation
   • Obtain, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
   • Identify hazards and environmental issues, assess risk and implement control measures
   • Select and wear personal protective equipment required for the work activities
   • Access, interpret and apply required geological and survey data
   • Coordinate and communicate planned activities with others at the site prior to commencement of work activity
2. Operate rigid haul truck in line with established requirements
   • Carry out prestart and start-up checks in line with workplace procedures
   • Identify faults or defects and rectify or report within scope of own responsibility and according to workplace procedures
   • Drive and operate rigid haul truck using techniques suited to equipment capabilities, site and work conditions, and according to workplace procedures
   • Monitor and manage equipment performance using indicators and alarms
   • Monitor hazards and risks during operation, and ensure safety to self, others, plant and equipment
3. Load, haul and dump materials to complete work activity
   • Position rigid haul truck under loading equipment and load vehicle
   • Carry out haulage operations in line with workplace procedures
   • Carry out approved dumping operations
   • Park up, shut down, secure and carry out post operational inspection of equipment in line with workplace procedures
4. Conduct housekeeping activities
   • Clear work area in line with workplace procedures
   • Manage and/or report hazards to maintain a safe working environment
   • Complete and file or distribute documentation
